The game has begun. It works on a different system, so it might be confusing at first, but it's active. Since the system demands players to remain active, the playerbase is constantly active. Check it out. :)

In the beginning there was nothing but chaos, primal chaos, the symbol of pure destruction. A maelstrom of of pure fury and the essence of change. On the edges of this nothingness, where it borders the great abyss, lie the small habitable regions. Pieces of worlds, unstable fragments that are in constant change, often appearing and disappearing. Into this unstable reality life would be born, followed by sentient life. Only those who could change their form, the [i]shapeshifters, could survive in such an environment. From these shifters would come the Courts of Chaos and the taming of Logrus, the embodiment of true chaos. Spell casting would soon follow the discovery of Logrus, along with the creation of Trumps, magically imbibed cards that allow users to travel between worlds.

The Lords of Chaos were the masters of the universe. That was until one named Dworkin would, for reasons known only to him, and subsequently create, or steal, a device known as the Jewel of Judgement. After receiving the blessings of the sacred Unicorn he would, much to the dismay of his violent elders, recreate the universe. With his own blood Dworkin would create the Primal Pattern, a force that would play counter to those of chaos. In stark contrast to shifting, unstable elements of chaos, the pattern served as a beacon of order and stability.

Between the two opposing powers Shadow would form. An infinite number of pocket universes, each a possibility, mirror images of varying difference. Each shadow is a reflection of this Pattern, but unique in their own way, each being distorted by the contast, shifting influence of chaos.

All around this Pattern is a region containing great power led by the son of Dworkin, the Amber King Oberon. Oberon used his abilities as an initiate of the Pattern to forge this mighty kingdom by fighting many wars, building the majestic castle Amber, and siring many heirs, each with an aspect of his immense power. These sons and daughters of Amber have, like their father, the ability to harness the Pattern and traverse the shadows, changing them as they wished, each a God in their own right. Each holds in their hand the power of life and death, creation and destruction. Then the progeny of Oberon would begin their quarrels with each other. Whether a result of their rebellious lineage, or outside manipulation, their fighting would greatly undermine the stability of Amber.

The Amber Experience:

First allow me to welcome you all to the imaginative and colorful universe that is Amber. Ultimately, Amber focuses on a dysfunctional family that is somehow at the center of a cosmic war between many powers. You play as one of the many princes and princesses of Amber, or a member of the Court of Chaos, No-one trusts anyone, everyone appears to be ready to backstab anyone else (often literally), and everyone seems genuinely interested in only one thing: himself or herself.

In this respect, the Amber universe could perhaps be best described as a philosophical, metaphysical, magical, mystical, fantasy soap opera. It has all those things, all wrapped around a cast of characters who are conniving, paranoid, dysfunctional, and often heartless.

Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game is a role-playing game created and written by Erick Wujcik, set in the fictional universe created by author Roger Zelazny for his Chronicles of Amber. The game is unusual in that no dice are used in resolving conflicts or player actions; instead a simple diceless system of comparative ability, and narrative description of the action by the players and game referee, is used to determine how situations are resolved.

Amber DRPG was created in the 1980s, and is much more focused on relationships and roleplaying than most of the roleplaying games of that era. Most Amber characters are members of the two ruling classes in the Amber multiverse, and are much more advanced in matters of strength, endurance, psyche, warfare and sorcery than ordinary beings. This means that the only individuals who are capable of opposing a character are from his or her family, a fact that leads to much suspicion and intrigue.

The game is set in the multiverse described in Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber. The campaign takes place after the Patternfall war; that is, after the end of the fifth book in the series, The Courts of Chaos, but uses material from the following books to describe those parts of Zelazny's cosmology that were featured there in more detail. The Amber multiverse consists of Amber, a city at one pole of the universe wherein is found the Pattern, the symbol of Order; The Courts of Chaos, an assembly of worlds at the other pole where can be found the Logrus, the manifestation of Chaos, and the Abyss, the source or end of all reality; and Shadow, the collection of all possible universes (shadows) between and around them. Inhabitants of either pole can use one or both of the Pattern and the Logrus to travel through Shadow.

The Pattern and the Logrus

At the two poles of existence are the symbols of Order and Chaos—The Pattern and The Logrus. Each takes the form of a maze or labyrinth which, when negotiated, gives a person the ability to walk in shadow—across the different possible universes. Whereas the Pattern is a static, two-dimensional maze, the Logrus can be described as a shifting, three-dimensional obstacle course.

The Trumps

Nearly all of Corwin's relatives carry a deck of Tarot cards, with a key alteration: each family member is on one of the Trumps. Each Trump, when concentrated upon by another family member, allows instant communication across the dimensions, and if both parties are willing, instant travel. Traveling in this way requires trust—placing oneself temporarily at the mercy of the non-traveling host.

Order vs. Chaos

In the Merlin cycle, strife continues in Amber and the Courts of Chaos, but the focus seems to be on a timeless battle between the superpowers of Order and Chaos, the Unicorn and the Serpent. All the while, the implication seems to be that there is really little difference between Order and Chaos; both are ways we describe such things. Of further significance is that both Oberon and Dworkin came from the Courts of Chaos, then created the Pattern. Therefore, the foundations of archetypal order (the Pattern) were born of archetypal chaos (the Logrus).

Now open! Somewhat, character sign ups will begin shortly, but you can still register, read the rules and glossary, then plan out your character. I have another GM so things will kick off very soon.

The Caribbean, 1702

At the turn of the century, the new world had been known to the European world for nearly two hundred years. Since then, the powers of old Europe have poured resources and energy in to controlling the fresh, new lands of the New World, and to establish their dominance in the resource rich regions. On the Northern Continent, the seaboard is divided between France, England, and Spain. France controls the cold and harsh region known as New France, based along the St.Lawrence river. The British Colonies stretch across most of the seaboard, from New England too the Carolinas. Florida is held by weakening Spanish Empire. The Caribbean, and the nearby northern cost of South America, another source of major contention, is divided up by many European powers, among them the Portuguese, the Spanish, the French, the English, the Dutch, the Swedes, and the Danes. Here, in this new land, the power that decides the victor of this game of nations is not that of a massive army marching across the land, but of the ships that sail the rich waters of these new lands.

But in this new world, no nation controls the seas. In this land, the waters is the realm of pirates! Swashbuckling adventurers and vicious cutthroats sail the seas seeking fame and fortune through any means necessary. With loyal crews (at least while you're providing the plunder), these pirates of the New World raid ports, steal treasures, and capture ships, spreading their names throughout the world! Why unite the land, when you can plunder it?!

It’s a brand new Sim about Pirates in the Caribbean. You play the part of either a captain or an officer on a captain’s ship, and you can roleplay, scheme, and raid your way to riches and fame!

Knowing the current status of the simming community as a whole I’ve been preparing, tucked away in my little corner of the world, for the darkness. For I am the Light Bringer, the Saviour of all Simmers and I shall lead all isms in a glorious new age with peace, prosperity, and no more spambots… again!

Yeah, I should have gone to drama school. But instead, I’ve created a simulation. No ordinary run of the mill one, either. You see… it’s mine. No forumer, no proboards, no noonhost, not even simdomain. She’s all mine and she’s bought and paid for. Now I told myself as I forked over the money for this operation, because she was rather expensive, that I would see this through. I would not waste what I had bought. And now, she’s nearing completion.

A New World

I give you A New World, a medieval simulation set during the War of the Roses period in the British Isles. The majority of the sim will remain a secret until game start but I will reveal certain developments that should tide over your hungry eyes. First, there are over seventy distinct provinces that are invadable, as well as the foreign powers that be that keep their eyes on the prize. Second, there is no such thing as a Kingdom Turn in A New World. And third, the idea of feudalism in this simulation has been well developed and literally, the British Isles rest in the hands of players as a whole, and not just the few that call themselves “rulers.”

Now then, the forum itself will remain mostly hidden from players until game day. This is done purposefully so that rules, formula, and even the minor particulars of a forum are leaked to the public. But, enjoy the discussion thread, our irc room, and maybe, if you have a desire to do more for Mother England, perhaps serve as a Knight in His Majesty’s Staff. The choice is yours. Make it a good one. God Save the King!

I'm reviving Tears of Heaven, but instead of being based on a video game (Jade Empire), it is now based on the Chinese film Curse of the Golden Flower.

Curse of an Empire, it's in the early days with still a lot to do. I would much like some help with certain matters (mainly the rules, map and some formulas), would be much appreciated..

In case some of you out there were wondering, "What happened to "The Eight Princes?" Well, it died, but it is being revived, and you can help take part. The rules, which had been a complete set, are being modified, and new formulas are being developed, but the process to revive shouldn't take too long. So if you would like to help, come to the new site at http://www.8princes.noonhost.com and join in on the, um, "fun"
