WotD Forum Rules

The WotD Message Boards are a public forum and, while we encourage a free flow of information and ideas on the boards, we also ask that you follow a few basic rules. By using or participating on the WotD Forum, you agree to the Rules of Conduct as stated below.

Moderation
The WotD Message Boards are a moderated forum. However, the moderators cannot be everywhere and see everything. If you see something that is against the Forum Rules, please report it to a WotD Moderator. They will evaluate the situation on a case-by-case basis and take appropriate action where needed.

• What Is A Moderator?
Moderators are volunteers who generously give their time to help board users with questions about our sites and boards. They also are the peacekeepers and are here to ensure that all visitors enjoy their stay. This means enforcing the Forum Rules.

• What Do Moderators Do?
Moderators monitor forum posts and respond to complaints to keep posting free of undesirable content as described in the Forum Rules. They enforce the forum rules, and can delete posts, edit posts as well as remove any user's ability to visit the boards. If a moderator lets you know you are close to crossing the line, take heed of the warning. Likewise, if your thread was deleted or locked by a moderator, do not repost or unlock the topic. They deserve respect and appreciation for their time.

• What If I Disagree With A Moderator?
Moderators are not perfect and are only human. Disagreements occur. Try to communicate with them first on a respectful level and settle your disagreement. They are not targets for your obscenities, flames or general insults. If you do not agree with a decision, you are not entitled to start a thread to argue about the verdict or to flame any of the moderators. Any such messages will be removed. The prohibition against flaming extends to Private Messages and other forms of communication; you are not entitled to insult moderators, period.

General Rules and Offenses
Below are some things you'll want to keep in mind while posting on the WotD Message Boards. Please read the rules so you will be familiar with them:

• Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling
Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated on the WotD Forum. Treat others on these message boards as you would expect them to treat you. Talking trash about another user or posting topics specifically to provoke a negative response from an individual, a group or an entire community is not acceptable on the WotD Forum. These posts will be deleted and may result in having the privilege of posting on the boards revoked.

• Profanity
Offensive language is unacceptable. While we may let you get away with anything you might hear on network television (no, NOT cable) or radio, don't go overboard. Simply editing a few letters with an asterisk or other symbols isn't allowed, either. All letters of an offensive word must be edited out. A simple rule to follow is: "when in doubt, leave it out." You don't have to use excessive profanity to get your point across, and it's usually better to avoid it altogether. Profanity in posts will be edited out. Repeat offenders or those who use excessive profanity may lose the privilege to post on the WotD Forum.

• Spam
Purposely spamming a message board with senseless, vacuous, or empty messages to gain more stars is highly frowned upon! This includes such things as party posts, chain letters, two-word "I agree" or "me too" responses, continually posting the same topic on a particular board, posting the same question across several boards and using the Quote feature without contributing anything new to a thread. Additionally, you are not allowed to spam other players' inboxes via PM for any reason, such as simple messages that have no significance or plugging your own site. Failure to abide by this rule with result in disciplinary action in the form of warnings, removal of your PM privileges, and if necessary, banning.

• Metagaming
One of the most serious offenses in any game, metagaming is the act of using Out-of-Character knowledge for In-Character purposes. Anything that your character themselves does not see or hear via roleplay is considered out-of-character infomation. The exception is the monthly gossip thread, where land-wide information or rumors will circulate. You are allowed to know these things OOCly, but once you toe the line of pretending and playing as if you know something that you really don't, action will be taken. That's cheating. Depending on the level and number of offenses, actions include but are not limited to warnings or bannings.

• Cheating
Obviously there is to be no cheating in any shape or form on the forum. (If you don't know what cheating is, well, then you need some common sense.) We trust you all by letting you do what you want, as long as it's honest and fair. But we won't tolerate power-playing, joining just to give your items/gold to others, and OOC recruiting to the masses where it gets to a point that they play for a day and then not at all. Violation of this results in a ban from the forum.

• Impersonating Other Users / Accessing Another User's Account/Multiple Accounts
You may not impersonate another board member or create an account specifically for the purpose of provoking other users. Also, accessing or using someone else's account or attempting to access another poster's account is strictly prohibited. If you engage in this type of behavior, you will be barred from the boards permanently. Furthermore, multiple accounts created in order to further oneself in the Board is against the rules and you will be banned from the forum.

• Avatar/Signature Images
Here on the WotD Forum, we have rules on avatars. Your avatar can be no larger than 80x80 and 10 KB. Furthermore, there are to be no signature pictures on the WotD Forum. This is to keep the forums clean, fast, and easy to access.

• Signature Content
When inputting your officer info, please condense it and try to resize the font via usage of the [size] tags - unnecessarily large signatures are an eyesore (the example is at font size 75).
Example Signature wrote:Mi Lian (172) The richest woman in China
64-46-64-70-94*
Charmer, Fluent, Magnetic Aura, Outfitter
Shop at Mi's Boutique for all your Clothing needs!

Try not to put anything beyond your officer's vital stats into your signature - brief quotes are fine, but the primary purpose of a WotD signature is to make your essential character information available to the staff and other players in a convenient fashion. Signatures may also be employed as discreet advertisments for in-game shops or tournaments. Skills that do not have RP impact (such as most Battle Skills and Ploys) can be left out of the signature in order to make room for such information. Remember, the character limit in a WotD signature is 350.

We strongly encourage players to place a link to their Officer Profiles in their signatures. Also, subliminal messaging in signatures that is geared towards offending others, baiting, or trolling will result in a warning. Under no circumstances may a signature contain text larger than font size 100 (default size).

• Questionable Content
Since we can't have a rule to cover everything, this is the rule to, well, cover everything. These are public boards, so act like you would if you were in a public place. WotD reserves the right to choose the guidelines of objectionable content based on its knowledge of users and Board policy.
